Christopher J. Wiesehan, CFA
President

Christopher J Wiesehan is the president and founder of CJW CAPITAL. He oversees all parts of the business including research, compliance, client services, and sales.  Chris founded CJW CAPITAL with four primary goals in mind: thorough research, fiduciary responsibility, tailored service, and transparency. Chris is a CFA® charterholder.

After graduating from Calvin College in Michigan, Chris worked in engineering and sales at General Electric’s infrastructure division. Following his passion for investing, Chris pursued an MBA in Finance at the University of Notre Dame. He currently lives in Chicago, IL but services clients throughout the country. Prior to founding his own firm Chris worked for a private equity and family office group performing research. 

Chris currently attends and is active at Park Community Church. He recently served as President of his alma mater’s alumni association and currently volunteers his time as a board member of an urban education charity called Bright Promise Fund. His hobbies include running, traveling, reading, tutoring students in finance, and spending time with family and friends.

Oscar Varona Jr.
Managing Director

Oscar Varona joined CJW Capital in 2017 as the Managing Director of Varona Capital, a branch of CJW Capital which operates in the southeast United States. He is the lead representative and oversees all client relationships.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from Florida International University, Oscar worked for Kairos International and University Christian Outreach as a Mission Director. He moved back to Miami and spent three years as a commercial real estate broker before returning to school and earning an MBA at the University of Notre Dame. After graduation Oscar spent several years as a consultant for large and small businesses, including as an operations consultant for Domino's Pizza in Latin America. Oscar has since returned to build on his family’s insurance practice and build out a wealth management and advisory capability to complement the insurance and retirement planning work the firm has done for close to 40 years.

Oscar currently lives in Miami with his wife, Denise, and their four children. He is an active board member of both the Notre Dame Mendoza College of Business Graduate Alumni Board and the Notre Dame Alumni Club of Miami. He and his family attend St. John Neumann Catholic Church and he enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis and golf, and backpacking throughout the national parks.

David Sopchik
Associate Representative

David Sopchik is an Associate Client Representative of CJW Capital. He is responsible for client relationships, research, financial modeling, and marketing.

David graduated from Northwestern University and worked for several years for Barnes & Noble Booksellers, primarily as a merchandising specialist. He earned an MBA from the University of Notre Dame with specializations in finance, forecasting, and data mining. After graduation he returned to Barnes & Noble for several years before becoming a part-time consultant for CJW Capital in 2018, and joining as a full-time representative in 2019.

 

David currently lives in Chicago with his wife and daughter. He is an avid woodworker and also enjoys backpacking, canoeing, and camping.
